The Askew Student Life Center is located in the heart of FSU’s campus and is home to a number of exciting and important student services.

The Student Life Cinema campus film series is presented in our state-of-the-art movie theatre with Dolby Digital surround sound, 35mm and digital projection, and stadium style seating. You can visit our Cyber Café & Lounge in between classes or before a movie to grab a cup of coffee and hang out with friends, study, surf the net, or play games.

The Askew Student Life Center is also home to University Housing, University Counseling, the Congress of Graduate Students, and the National Pan-Hellenic Council. Our friendly and helpful staff at the Information Desk, located in the Cyber Café, can direct you to individual departments or help you find answers to any questions you may have.

Designed by the architectural firm of Elliott, Marshal, and Innes, the building opened in 2000 and was named in honor of Governor Reubin O’D. Askew in October, 2006.

Student Life Cinema plays movies up to 6 nights a week free for FSU students with a valid FSUCard. General admission for FSU non-students is only $4. The film schedule is programmed by FSU students, and includes everything from mainstream blockbusters and advance screenings to independent, foreign, and documentary films to cult classics and popular favorites for Friday midnight movies. The SLC often plays movies you can’t see anywhere else in Tallahassee. Check for current titles and showtimes.

The state-of-the-art movie theatre seats 380 and features stadium style seating, 35mm and digital projection, 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound, an 18’ x 43’ screen, and movie refreshments at affordable prices. Digital media shown in the theatre can be routed to meeting rooms and Cyber Café TV’s for overflow seating. Prime seating is available for guests in wheelchairs, and infrared headphones are available for the hearing-impaired.

The theatre’s excellent projection and sound system was designed by Chuck Allen and Richard Travis of the FSU Film School

The Cyber Café & Lounge is the perfect hangout if you’re waiting for a movie or relaxing between classes and don’t want to lose your parking space. You can enjoy a variety of drinks and baked goods from “Reel Coffee,” surf the Internet, play computer and board games, watch TV, or catch up on some last minute studying before your next exam.

Featured on the PC Computers are popular games including Battlefield 2, World of Warcraft III, and The Sims 2. Board games are available for checkout from the Infodesk and include favorites such as Scrabble, Cranium, Balderdash, and Apples to Apples. The Cyber Café & Lounge is also proud to offer wireless Internet for laptop users, and features four PC computers dedicated to Internet use.

Reel Coffee features a wide array of beverages and baked goods, including all natural fruit smoothies, fresh baked Otis Spunkmeyer cookies, and freshly brewed coffee.
