Veterans Day Weekend Hours

Veterans Day is a day to honor the men and women who have served our nation. On this holiday weekend most Oglesby Union departments will be closed but the Art Center and Crenshaw Lanes (except Friday, Nov. 11) will be open.

Stop by the Art Center to enjoy paint-a-pot during their normal hours:

  • Friday, November 11th — 10am to 9pm
  • Saturday, November 12th — 11am to 7pm
  • Sunday, November 13th — 12pm to 5pm

Enjoy a game of bowling or billiards with your friends at Crenshaw Lanes during their weekend hours:

  • Friday, November 11th — Closed
  • Saturday, November 12th — 2pm to 2am
  • Sunday, November 13th — 2pm to 10pm

The Oglesby Union will reopen for its normal hours on Monday, November 14th at 8am.

Haunted Harvest 2016

Prepare for a night of pumpkins, costumes, food, and fun! The annual Haunted Harvest will take place on Friday, October 28th.

Start your evening off with a show! At 6:00pm the Student Life Cinema will be presenting Ghostbusters . Or head over to the Circus Big Top as the FSU Flying High Circus will be exhibiting their Halloween Circus Show. Visit tickets.fsu.edu to purchase general public tickets for the circus show.

Other Haunted Harvest events begin at 7:00pm in the Oglesby Union. These include a Haunted House, cookie decorating, face painting, blacklight chalk art, cake pops, wax hands, corn dogs, movie posters, and more. End the evening with Friday Night Bites, including breakfast foods and pizza or step into the intergalactic universe to enjoy cosmic bowling at Crenshaw Lanes.

Haunted Harvest is free for all children under 12 years old with a paid adult and FSU students with a valid FSU ID. General public admission is $10. There will be participation waivers will be available for rides and events.

Homecoming 2016: A Living Legacy

Homecoming 2016: A Living Legacy kicks off this Sunday, October 9th. Experience the Seminole pride and FSU school spirit with this activity-filled week and show your passion for the Garnet and Gold!

Don’t miss your chance to enjoy Warchant, Pow Wow, Homecoming Parade, and more. This year’s Warchant takes place Wednesday, Oct. 12th at 9:00pm in the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center and features Chance the Rapper as part of the Magnificent Coloring World Tour with special guest Francis and the Lights.

Come watch the crowning of Florida State’s Homecoming Chief and Princess on Oct. 14th at 8:00pm in the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, followed by Pow Wow 2016 featuring Whitney Cummings with special guests The World Champion Judah Friedlander and Nicole Byer! Be prepared to enjoy a night of laughter and fun as we amp up for our homecoming football game against Wake Forest on Saturday, Oct. 15th at 3:30pm.

Parents’ Weekend 2016

Parents’ Weekend 2016 is scheduled for this weekend, September 30 – October 1st. This weekend is the time for parents to become acquainted with Florida State and learn more about their students’ experience. Some of the events taking place include bowling specials, silent auctions, movies and more!

Don’t miss your chance to celebrate Parents’ Weekend under the Big Top with the FSU Flying High Circus. Available shows on Friday night include 6:00pm and 9:00pm. There will also be a 5K Fun Run/Walk through FSU’s beautiful campus at 8:00am on Saturday.

Online registration for the Circus, Fun Run and Brunch program is closed. For walk-up registration, visit the Registration desk on Friday, September 30th in the Guest Services Krentzman Lounge on the second floor of the Oglesby Union.

Be sure to be there for the 3:30pm kick off against North Carolina, October 1st.

Labor Day Weekend Hours & Activities

— Due to Tropical Storm Hermine, the University will be closing at noon today Thursday, September 1 and will remain closed tomorrow Friday, September 2. Some programming changes have been made. Please note all changes in red.

The Oglesby Union and their departments have many different events happening all weekend long; from movies and trivia at the ASLC, to cosmic bowling and bowling and billiard specials on Labor Day, to tapping into your creativity with Paint-a-Pot and art classes starting on Monday, September 5th.

Art Center

The Oglesby Union Art Center carries a wide variety of un-glazed pottery pieces starting at $8. Paint-a-Pot pricing provides glaze, clear coat firing, unlimited paint time, and plenty of space in our relaxing space for a fun, creative experience for all ages and artistic abilities. If you need a little extra inspiration, we have staff that is always willing to help.

Or are you looking for a new hobby? Sign up for an art class in wheel throwing, handbuilding, drawing, painting, glass fusing, or jewelry. Students $55 – Faculty/Staff $100 – General Public $145

    • Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising is playing at 7pm and 9:30pm.
      On the eve of selling their house, a married couple (Seth Rogen & Rose Byrne) are taken aback when a new and unruly sorority moves in next door. Scared of how these new neighbors will affect the sale of their house, the couple enlists old neighbor and once enemy Teddy (Zac Efron) to reclaim the neighborhood. Also starring Chloe Moretz, Ike Barinholtz, and Dave Franco.
    • Trainspotting is this weekend’s Midnight movie. Doors open at 11pm.
      Renton (Ewan McGregor) is consumed by his heroin addiction, but every time he tries to get sober his friends pull him back into Edinburgh’s drug culture. Directed by Danny Boyle (Steve Jobs, 28 Days Later), Trainspotting is a surreal and jam-packed look into the human desire for self-improvement and the obstacles that one faces in that pursuit.
  • Saturday, September 3rd – (12pm – 11pm) — Depending on damage and power, the Askew Student Life Center will reopen at 12pm and will remain open for their films and events.

    • College Movies Trivia Night starts at 8pm in the Cyber Café.
      Did you plan your college experience around the wild world of Neighbors or the dramatic world of Legally Blonde? Well then come over to the ASLC and show us how much you know about college movies. Dominate the competition solo or on a team. All teams in real or fictional college gear will get 20 BONUS POINTS!

    • Pride Drag Show: Come celebrate Kings, Queens and the In-Betweens at the semiannual PRIDE Drag Show! This event has consistently been a favorite for FSU students, and it’s no surprise why. Looking for a quiet zone to study or just somewhere to pass time on campus with your friends, Krentzman Lounge is the perfect location. Equipped with seven workspaces, LCD monitors, TV and a couch you can either practice for group presentations or just past the time.
