Parents’ Weekend 2015

Parents’ Weekend 2015 is scheduled for this weekend, October 30-31st. This weekend is the time for parents to become acquainted with Florida State and learn more about their students’ experience. Some of the events taking place include bowling specials, silent auctions, movies and more!

Don’t miss your chance to celebrate Parents’ Weekend under the Big Top with the FSU Flying High Circus. Available shows on Friday night include 5:00pm and 9:00pm. (The 7:00pm showing is sold out). There will also be a 5K Fun Run/Walk through FSU’s beautiful campus at 8:00am on Saturday.

Online registration for the Circus, Fun Run and Brunch program is closed. For walk-up registration, visit the Registration desk on Friday, October 30th in the Guest Services Krentzman Lounge on the second floor of the Oglesby Union.

Be sure to be there for the 12:00pm kick off against Syracuse, October 31st.

Parents’ Weekend is that special time in fall when families can get better acquainted with the Florida State University campus and enjoy the experience with their student! We invite you to take part in the many exciting events we have planned for this annual event.

Labor Day Weekend Holiday Hours

Looking for something to do during the Labor Day weekend?

The Oglesby Union and their departments have many different events happening all weekend long; from an Advanced Screening of The Visit, to cosmic bowling and bowling and billiard specials on Labor Day, to tapping into your creativity with Paint-a-Pot and art classes starting on Monday, September 7th.

Art Center

The Oglesby Union Art Center carries a wide variety of unglazed pottery pieces starting at $8. Paint-a-Pot pricing provides glaze, clear coat firing, unlimited paint time, and plenty of space in our relaxing space for a fun, creative experience for all ages and artistic abilities. If you need a little extra inspiration, we have staff that is always willing to help.

Or are you looking for a new hobby? Sign up for an art class in wheel throwing, handbuilding, drawing, painting, glass fusing, or jewelry. Students $55 – Faculty/Staff $100 – General Public $145

Askew Student Life Cinema

  • Friday, September 4th (8am – 12am)
    • Unfriended is playing at 7:45pm and 10pm. While video chatting, 6 high school friends receive a message from a classmate who committed suicide one year earlier. They soon realize they’re dealing with something not from this world and it is out for them.
    • The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is this weekends Midnight movie. Doors open at 11pm. Two drag queens and a transsexual travel across the desert to perform their unique style of cabaret.

    • Advanced Screening of The Visit starts at 8pm. A single mother finds that things in her family’s life go very wrong after her two young children visit their grandparents. Advanced Screening passes are available at the ASLC information desk to FSU students with their valid FSU ID.

Crenshaw Lanes

  • Friday, September 4th (10AM – 2AM)Cosmic Bowling is hosted from 9pm to 2am. Cosmic Bowling includes a unique black light effect, with sound sensitive disco lighting, that creates an exciting atmosphere for bowling with old friends and meeting new ones.
      FSU Students: $10/hr per lane
      General Public: $18/hr per lane
  • Saturday, September 5th – Closed for Football Game
  • Sunday, September 6th (2pm – 10pm)
    • Group Bowling: Bowl with your friends. Groups of 4 or more get free Crenshaw Lanes - Labor Day Specials flyershoes from 5pm – 10pm.

    • Labor Day Special
      • $1 bowling games and shoe rentals
      • $2 billiards per hour per table

Guest Services

Looking for a quiet zone to study or just somewhere to pass time on campus with your friends, Krentzman Lounge is the perfect location. Equipped with seven workspaces, LCD monitors, TV and a couch you can either practice for group presentations or just past the time.

Art Center Classes start Sept. 7th!

Find a new passion, learn new skills, or just have fun! The Oglesby Union Art Center offers classes in ceramics, painting, drawing, glass fusing, stained glass, and jewelry. The first session of classes start September 7th with Beginning Wheel at 5:30pm. The Art Center offers special rates for FSU Students ($55), Faculty and Staff ($100).
