Fraternity and sorority organizations have enjoyed a rich tradition of excellence for over 100 years at Florida State University. Our mission is to enhance the student experience by empowering members to lead with purpose. This mission is enacted through the shared values of leadership, scholarship, service, and brotherhood/sisterhood. We believe Greek life provides an exciting opportunity for holistic development that is complementary to your student’s academic experience.
As a family member of a fraternity/sorority member, you may wonder about the benefits of membership or how this experience will enhance your student’s experience at FSU. To be clear, membership in one of our 54 organizations is a commitment to hold ourselves to a higher standard and exceed the highest of expectations. The Greek community at FSU boasts over 7,000 members and continues to grow each year. Over the past school year the men and women of this community have completed over 60,000 hours of community service and donated over $850,000 to numerous charitable organizations just within the last year. These students also consistently achieve GPAs that are higher than the FSU average, including their overall 3.153 Fall Semester GPA.
Whether your family has a long history of fraternity/sorority involvement or this is your first adventure into the Greek world, we welcome you to explore all that it has to offer your student. Please take any opportunity to contact our office if you have any questions or concerns. We believe family members are an important stakeholder and contributor to the continued success of this community. Your student has made one of the best decisions of the college career. We look forward to working with your student and partnering with you to ensure that this decision is a lifelong commitment to serving others and leading with purpose.
