Michael R. Fine, M.S., Associate Director of the Florida State University (FSU) Student Union was honored as the recipient of the Gordon Teigen Meritorious Service Award for 2024, during the Night of Champions banquet Wednesday, April 18, which also marked the commencement of the Intercollegiate Team Championships. The award was presented by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association and sponsored by the United States Bowling Congress.

Fine, serving as the head coach of both the men’s and women’s teams at FSU from 2005 until 2021 has demonstrated exemplary dedication and leadership in collegiate bowling. Recognized twice as one of the Bowlers Journal’s "Top 100 Bowling Coaches in America," Fine currently represents the interests of all collegiate bowling programs on the USBC Collegiate Advisory Council and serves as Secretary/Rules Editor for NCAA Women’s Bowling.

Fine earned his bachelor’s degree in recreation management from Emporia State University and his master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Kansas.

In addition to his coaching achievements, Fine has been extensively involved in various professional development, leadership opportunities, and community involvement initiatives. Some of his notable involvements include serving as the Overall Program Advisor for the FSU Garnet & Gold Scholar Society, presenting at conferences, and holding leadership positions within collegiate bowling organizations.

Among his numerous roles, Fine has served as President and Vice President of the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association, further demonstrating his commitment to the advancement of collegiate bowling.

Jim Apgar, the FSU Student Union's very own "Sound Man Jim", has been honored with the prestigious FSU Division of Student Affairs Keystone Award April 18, 2024.

This award embodies the spirit of dedication and excellence that Apgar demonstrates in his consistent support to union staff and students.

Overseeing all audio/visual operations at the Student Union, Student Services Building, ASLC, Moore Auditorium, and FSU Circus Apgar goes above and beyond to ensure everything is running smoothly.

Thomas Vatter, the student program coordinator at Union Productions, Club Downunder received the prestigious Staff Seminole Award from the Division of Student Affairs at the annual Leadership Awards Night on April 9, 2024.

Vatter was honored for his outstanding commitment to students, evident in his enthusiastic approach to working with them and his dedicated efforts to support their needs.
