23 Games to Play Online with Friends!
Quarantine would have been a lot harder without Wi-Fi. Imagine playing Charades in Morse code, or sending your buddies a messenger pigeon with a tic-tac-toe table. Fortunately, we have better options these days and a vast variety of them too. Below is a list of 23 games that you can play online. They are split into categories so it’s easier to find the kind of game you’re looking for.
Recommended by Game Committee: A special thanks to a Game Committee Leader, Haylee Kiedrowski! Jackbox Games is a developer that creates party games. These are known for supporting several players as well as audience participation through streaming platforms.
Minecraft
Any Jackbox Games
Tabletop Simulator
Terraria
Good for Newbies: These titles are amusing, silly, and overall relatively easy for a new player to get into. If you enjoy pretending that your bones are made of wet clay, check out Human Fall Flat. If you like Hell’s Kitchen and zombies, check out Overcooked 2.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2
Don’t Starve Together
Human Fall Flat
Overcooked 2
Good Graphics: These games have stunning graphics and each of them have very different styles. Check out the art for Monster Hunter World if you love fantastical creatures.
Call of Duty: Warzone
Monster Hunter World
Grand Theft Auto Online
Free: I’m sure you recognize the first two names. Yes, these three titles are free! Maybe that’s partially why they’re so famous. Corgi lovers: League of Legends has a skin that turns a character’s vehicle into a beautiful, bodacious corgi. Google “Corki corgi” for the art.
League of Legends
Fortnite
Destiny 2
Board Game Night: If you mostly miss board games, there are options for you too. These games are digital versions of your classic favorites. In time, they are sure to make everyone feel like they’re in the same living room. Play with family, or in the case of Cards Against Humanity, maybe don’t.
Playingcards.io
Secret Hitler
Bunch (its own chat platform; includes Flappy Bird and Charades)
Cards Against Humanity
Scribbl.io
Outsider Recommendations: If you’re looking for a third opinion, here are some games suggested by GamesRadar and Wired.
Sam Loveridge and Samuel Horti of GamesRadar compiled a longer and more detailed list of co-op games for both local and online play. For the sake of brevity, here are two of the best games that they included in their list. If you’d like to see more, check it out here. The latter two are from another list of online co-op games compiled by Robert Carnevale of Wired.
Deep Rock Galactic
Borderlands 3
Assassin’s Creed: Unity
Portal 2
Before you go capture a pigeon and brush up your tic-tac-toe skills, give one of these games a try. In fact, there are so many options out there that I am sure I missed several titles. Are there any great co-op games that you’d like to recommend? Be a hero to anyone still browsing for online games, and let us know on our @aslcgaming Twitter or Instagram account.
