Summer Registration Opens Mon., April 24, 2023

Class registration is open at the Art Center Student Union, lower level until classes are filled. Space is limited, first-come first-served basis, in person only. Classes are held in the Art Center at the Student Union. Payment can be made by credit card. NOTE: All class times are subject to change before registration begins.

All classes come with open access. Anytime the Art Center is open you may use your area of work unless there is another class in session.

Beginning Wheel | Intermediate Wheel | Clay Handbuilding | Ceramics Access - No Instructor | Beginning Painting | Beginning Jewelry | Drawing | Printmaking | Stained Glass | Glass Fusing

Beginning Wheel

Students learn the basics of wheel throwing and experiment with making a variety of forms including bowls, plates, mugs, and vases. Glazing techniques are also covered. Most students produce a large number of finished pieces. Students will have a choice of five types of clay from $15 - $24 per 25 lb. bag that they can store at the Art Center. The first bag of clay must be purchased at registration and picked up at the Art Center the first day of class with a receipt.

Ceramics Access - No Instructor

Access to the ceramics studio whenever there is not a class in session and during studio hours per session dates. Must have experience in ceramics. Five types of clay are available to purchase at $21 per 25 lb. bag at the Art Center.

Beginning Painting

Students learn the techniques of painting. Assignments are geared towards learning basic concepts and styles of painting. Most students complete 5 to 7 paintings during a typical session. Previous drawing experience is preferred but not required. All materials are provided.

Beginning Jewelry

Students learn the fundamentals of fabricating jewelry including soldering and stone setting. Most students produce 5 to 7 pieces of jewelry during the session. Course cost does not cover silver and stones.

Drawing

Students learn the fundamental skills of drawing while experimenting with several different media. Attention is also placed on correct use of materials and preservation of artwork. Most students complete a total of 7 to 10 finished drawings during the session. All materials are provided.

Printmaking

Students are introduced to basic linoleum and other techniques as they complete up to four projects over the course. Learn to design, cut, and make prints to create a work of art. All materials are provided.

Stained Glass

Students are introduced to stained glass techniques as they complete1-3 projects over the course of a session. Learn to cut, fit, seal and solder pieces of glass to create a work of art. All materials are provided.

Glass Fusing

Students learn the process of glass fusing to create several projects including plates, bowls, wall hangings and jewelry. Emphasis is placed on creativity and exploration of the medium. Most materials are provided.
