Get Involved

First time in college? Graduate student? Just transferred? Don’t know where to start? Whether you just got here or you’ve been here awhile, the Student Activities can help you get a jump start on creating your FSU experience!

We believe that finding and building community is such a critical component to student success and wellness. At a large campus like FSU that has over 650 recognized student organizations (RSOs), it can be extremely overwhelming and intimidating to find your niche, especially if you don’t know what is available to you or the first step to get involved. The tabs below will help you take that first step and the best part is: you do not have to go in any particular order so click away!

Take the MyInvolvement survey

Whether you’re interested in an honor society, student government, sport clubs, or whatever you can think of, the Involvement Survey can help you find the perfect opportunity or multiple opportunities on campus to get involved in!

Once you complete the survey, you will be contacted by a member of the Peer Involvement Committee of the Student Organization Advisory and Resource (SOAR) Board about setting up a one-on-one consultation to go over your results and get you connected to opportunities that match your interests!

I’m ready to start myInvolvement!

Not ready to take the myInvolvement Survey? That’s okay! Click any of the other tabs to find involvement opportunities for you!

Browse Through Nole Central

Whether you’re interested in serving the community, engaging in conversations around politics, or looking to learn the game of Quidditch, you can explore all the possibilities through Nole Central! Nole Central serves as the central digital-hub for currently active RSOs.

New to Nole Central? Follow these easy steps to navigate through the portal and gain instant access to 650+ unique opportunities to get involved:

  1. Type in: https://nolecentral.dsa.fsu.edu/.
  2. Select Sign In Now. (You’ll use your myFSU log-in information.)
  3. Create Your Profile. (You’ll be redirected to the home page after.)
  4. Scroll down and click the Discover a New Organization button.
  5. You can narrow down your search for organizations in the Organization Directory by typing in keywords (i.e. Harry Potter) in the Search bar or utilizing the alphabetical filter, if you know the name of the RSO, or the categorical filter, if you have a particular interest area you’re looking in (i.e. community service).

Schedule a Consultation with SOAR Board

The Student Organization Advisory and Resource (SOAR) Board is an entity of the Office of Student Organizations and Involvement that serves as a liaison between the Oglesby Union, Student Organizations and Involvement, and the campus community, in addition to encouraging FSU students to get involved on-campus. Their services can be broken up into RSO-based and individualized services.

Services for RSOs

SOAR Board works to help currently existing RSOs develop and engage by providing skills-based workshops and training (i.e. budgeting, event planning, marketing, collaborating, etc.) as well as coordinates large events that provide opportunities for networking and recognition such as Market Wednesdays, Presidents’ Mixers, the Involvement Fairs, and Leadership Awards Night. They’re here to help organizations create their FSU experience. More information about these services can be found HERE.

Services for Individuals

Involvement Consultations – Whether you choose to take the myInvolvement Survey or not, you can request a meeting with a member of the Peer Involvement Committee and they can walk you through the survey and Nole Central with you or just have a conversation with you about getting involved on campus!

New RSO Consultations – Can't find an organization that doesn’t fit a particular interest? It just might not exist yet! You can request a meeting with a member of the Recognition Committee and they can walk you through the process of starting a new organization on campus!

To schedule any of the above consultations with SOAR Board, simply e-mail soar@admin.fsu.edu with your name and the type of consultation you are looking for. A member of the respective committee will respond within 24-48 hours to schedule a time.

Attend an Involvement Fair

The Involvement Fair happens twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. At each one, there will be hundreds of RSOs and campus departments combined! The dates and times for this school year are:

  • Fall Involvement Fair – Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 6:00-9:00pm in the FSU Student Union Ballroom

More information regarding what organizations will be in attendance can be found HERE one week before each event.

Attend a Market Wednesday

Market Wednesdays occur each week during the fall, spring and summer C session in the Oglesby Union Courtyard. Local vendors are there from 8:00am-5:00pm selling merchandise, such as hand-crafted jewelry, t-shirts, posters, and so much more! RSOs and campus departments are there from 11:00am-1:00pm promoting their events, resources, services, and leadership and volunteer opportunities. There's also live music with a DJ from 12:00-1:00pm!
